Position Overview
The Digital Account Manager is a mid-level role responsible for leading the execution and management of digital marketing and integrated communication campaigns for Ascent’s clients. With 3-5 years of experience, the Digital Account Manager will oversee projects, provide strategic recommendations, and ensure successful outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role emphasizes emerging leadership skills, client relationship management, and advanced campaign execution.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Leadership & Execution
- Digital Strategy: Co-develop and oversee the implementation of digital marketing strategies, including SEO optimization, email campaigns, social media management, and website updates.
- Content Development: Create and edit high-quality content for digital platforms such as websites, email newsletters, and social media, aligning with client goals and SEO best practices.
- Creative Oversight: Collaborate with graphic design and creative teams to produce compelling assets, providing direction and feedback to ensure alignment with client objectives.
Client Management & Communication
- Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations, presenting strategies, and addressing feedback.
- Project Oversight: Ensure all deliverables are on time, within scope, and meet quality standards while proactively managing potential roadblocks.
- Reporting: Provide detailed performance reports and actionable insights, aligning campaign outcomes with client goals.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentorship: Support and mentor junior team members, offering guidance on best practices and professional development.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and creative teams, to ensure cohesive campaign execution.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement workflow enhancements to improve efficiency and deliver optimal results.
Research & Innovation
- Trend Analysis: Stay current on industry trends, digital marketing innovations, and emerging tools to inform and elevate client campaigns.
- Strategic Input: Contribute to the development of proposals and recommendations for potential and existing clients.
Expectations & Skills
- Experience: 3-5 years in digital marketing or related fields, with proven experience managing campaigns across multiple channels.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in SEO, Google Analytics, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools; familiarity with WordPress, SEMrush, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and results clearly to clients and teams.
- Leadership: A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to lead and inspire teams.

Location: Remote, with occasional travel for client or team meetings as needed.
Pay & Benefits: This position includes a salary range of $55,000 – $70,000, depending on experience. Additional benefits include health and dental insurance, including two low-deductible plans with an option for one with 100% of the employee’s premium covered. Additional benefits include Short-Term Disability Insurance, 401k contributions, Flexible Saving Accounts, Wellness Stipend, and a generous paid time off policy. Finally, candidates are eligible to receive annual bonus opportunities based on personal and company performance.

Position Overview:

This role involves direct client management, campaign strategy development, and ensuring the successful implementation of media relations and content-driven initiatives. You will serve as a key point of contact for clients, guiding account teams to achieve client objectives and deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Management & Strategy
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong relationships through regular communication, proactive problem-solving, and a deep understanding of client needs and industries.
- Lead client meetings, including project kick-offs, status updates, and campaign reviews, ensuring alignment on goals, progress, and next steps.
- Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive PR and communication strategies that support their business objectives and enhance brand reputation.
- Track client expenses and any hourly tracking relevant for monthly invoicing
- Strategic Campaign Oversight:
- Lead the development and execution of integrated PR campaigns, including media relations, content creation, social media strategy, and influencer partnerships.
- Oversee and support the creation of key communications materials, such as press releases, blog posts, media pitches, and messaging frameworks, ensuring quality and consistency with client brand standards.
- Craft tailored media strategies, identifying key media outlets, and leveraging Ascent’s media relationships to secure coverage.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track and analyze campaign performance, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations to clients.
- Prepare regular reports that demonstrate ROI and progress towards client goals, translating data into clear narratives for client presentations.
- Adjust tactics as needed based on performance data, media trends, and client feedback to optimize results.
Team Leadership & Development
- Team Oversight:
- Manage and mentor Account Managers and Account Executives, providing day-to-day guidance and support to ensure project deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and creative problem-solving.
- Conduct and/or participate in regular team check-ins, providing feedback and coaching to support professional development.
- Project Management & Coordination:
- Coordinate with internal creative and digital teams to ensure smooth project execution, from initial planning through to final deliverables.
- Manage timelines and resources to meet multiple project deadlines across client accounts.
- Oversee coordination with external vendors, such as graphic designers, videographers, and freelance writers.
Industry Expertise & Innovation
- Client Advocacy & Trend Analysis:
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging media opportunities, and best practices in public relations and digital communications.
- Provide strategic counsel to clients based on industry insights.
- Champion client needs within Ascent, ensuring their feedback is considered in the development of new service offerings.
- Media Relations & Thought Leadership:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with media contacts across client-relevant industries.
- Lead efforts to position clients as thought leaders through targeted media outreach, speaking engagements, and content opportunities.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Ascent, attending industry events and building relationships that enhance Ascent’s reputation in the market.
Expectations & Skills:
- 5-9 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, or a related field, with a focus on client management and campaign strategy.
- Proven success in managing and executing integrated PR and communications campaigns that achieve measurable results.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with experience crafting compelling press releases, media pitches, and content for various platforms.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a track record of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, team members, and media professionals.
- Comfortability with nuance and ambiguity, seeking to bring clarity and forward movement to every client and team engagement
- Proficiency with media monitoring and reporting tools such as Prowly

3-month part-time internship (remote)
Opportunity and Overview
Ascent Strategic Communications (Ascent Strategic Communications) is seeking a college-level student for a part-time, summer internship over a 3-month period, with the opportunity to continue beyond this initial period. The intern will support a variety of communication projects, including public relations, social media, graphic design, and digital marketing. Tasks may include assisting with content creation, media outreach, digital design, website updates, and project coordination. Hours are anticipated at 10 hours per week, with a flexible schedule option.

Our clients span numerous industries in both B2B and B2C sectors, including healthcare, technology, real estate, nonprofits, and financial services. The company is based in Charlotte, NC, with clients across North America.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in content creation for social media, press releases, and marketing materials
- Develop branded graphics and optimize images for social media, websites, and digital campaigns
- Support public relations initiatives, including media outreach and list building
- Assist with website content updates, SEO implementation, and digital strategy
- Help manage digital assets, marketing initiatives, and project coordination
- Research industry trends and provide insights to enhance communication strategies
- Participate in team meetings as available and contribute creative ideas for client projects
Requirements & Skills
- Rising college junior or senior attending a US-based college preferred; rising sophomores may also apply
- Majors in communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design, or related fields preferred
- Experience with Canva or other design platforms for design projects
- Strong writing and editing skills for web, social media, and press materials
- Familiarity with all social media platforms, web design, content management, and digital marketing concepts
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn and grow
- Ability and commitment to working within Asana, our project management software tool
- Willingness to work up to 10 hours per week
- While this position is fully remote, an intern must live in one of the following states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Minnesota or Oklahoma.
Compensation
$15/hour and/or course credit if available through institution
